Lake Guntersville, a 68,000-acre freshwater reservoir on the Tennessee River, is one of the top bass fisheries in the world. A coalition of community leaders and fishing interests was established to address the issue of invasive aquatic plants, to ensure the long-term health of the lake. The solution involved limited chemical spraying to maintain a balance between “weeds”, which fish love, and the clear lake water ideal for other activities. The challenge was to overcome misperceptions about the spraying. BakerWoodward designed a logo, website and other materials that gave the coalition a professional platform from which to successfully educate the public.
